Down The Milestone
21.2.1918 | Chan Wa School was established. At that time, there were only 30 students, with 2 teachers under the first Head Master. |
1930 | Seremban Chan Wa Primary School was established. |
1935 | Launching of Form I classes: Secondary School Level |
1941 | This School was destroyed by the Japanese Invasion of the Malay Peninsula |
1946 | After World War II, the Board of Directors pursued the rebuilding of the School. |
1948-1952 | The School Development Committee was established to manage the rebuliding project until Lower Secondary Classes commenced. |
1954 | Mr Lee Siew Hoo, Chairman of the Board of Directors, calls for the commencement of Upper Secondary Classes. |
1955 | This School became a full Secondary School. |
1956 | The School faced financial difficulties as a result of the decease of our main contributor. |
1957 | This School becomes a National Type Secondary School, and obtained full assistance from the Government. Hereafter, the Primary School and Secondary School were administered independently. |
1964 | The School Band was established. |
1966 | The new building for Primary School was completed. |
1971 | The Poor pupils fund was started to alleviate the burdens of the poorer students. |
1969-1972 | The Kwong Shiu Building (Science and Library) was completed and Tun Tan Siew Sin officiated its opening. |
1973 | Parents, Teachers Association was established to foster closer ties between parents and the school. |
1979-1982 | The Three Storey New Building was launched and Dato Chan Siang Sun officiated its opening. |
1987 | Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Hj. Mohd. Isa bin Adbul Samad, laid the foundation stone of the Multipurpose Hall. |
22.7.1990 | Official opening of the Multipurpose Hall by Y.B. Dato Seri Dr. Ling Liong Sik, Minister of Transport. |
1991 | Application for land to be used for the school field was approved. |
1994 | Ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Four Storey Building. |
1996 | Four-Storey Building was completed. Program to collect donations for building the SMJK Chan Wa branch school was planned. The Ministry of Education approved the building of the branch school. |
1997 | Collection of donations for building of the branch school. The government of Negeri Sembilan approved the application for an 2.7 acre land to SMJK Chan Wa. Development Committee of SMJK Chan Wa was established. |
1997 | The old Staff Room Building was demolished and replaced by a new basketball court. |
Nov 1997 | Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan YAB Dato Seri Utama Tan Sri Hj. Mohd Isa bin Hj. Abdul Samad officiated the opening of the 4-Storey Building. |

Mac 1998 | The PTA bought two Pentium 200 computers. |
Apr 1998 | INTERNET connection began. INTERNET VALLEY was established |
Mac 1999 | The PTA bought two Pentium Celeron 333 computers, bringing a total of five computers in the computer room. |
Apr 1999 | School WEB site is registered. The school enters cyber space. |
Mar 2000 | Purchase of two Celeron 466 CPUs,
increasing the computers to seven. Internet Station now links four computers to surf the NET |
Aug 2000 | Chan Wa Cyber Corridor is now replaced by a broader Vision - the Discovery Science Centre |
Jun 2001 | Revival of Chan Wa
Cyber Corridor
Purchase of 11 new Celeron computers, now totalling 18 computers, a new HP LaserJet Printer, and a new Scanner linked together with a new 24-port Hub in the Computer Room. |
Oct 2002 | A new PC and a new HP
LaserJet Printer is added to the Science Lab.
