History of the Development of Atomic Structure

400 B.C.

During the Golden Civilization of Greece, philosophers such as Aristotle and Democritus pondered over the nature of matter. One of these schools of thought taught that matter consists of atoms.

1800 A.D.

When the Greek civilisation collapsed, few thought about the fundamental nature of matter as tribes of men fought against each other for survival. When the Renaissance began to dawn in Europe again, a remarkable scientist by the name of John Dalton revived the concept of the atom as the smallest particle of nature.

1900 A.D.

The beginning of the twentieth century marked an avalanche of great new ideas in the concept of the structure of the atom.
